Mary-Penn Bed & Breakfast

Beautiful house, beautiful setting tucked away by Marsh Creek on the PA/Maryland border. Stunning place, comfortable and spacious rooms, and a great breakfast. Bea and Michael were warm and gracious hosts. Wonderful amenities, and you feel like you are with family here. We came here with my husband's brother and wife for a reunion of sorts, and couldn't imagine a more perfect place to stay. Highly recommend this to anyone for any reason. We will be making this our first choice for our many Gettysburg trips!

If you are looking for a place to stay in historic Gettysburg, you can't get better than a fully restored secluded historic home built in the 1700s. It's less than 10 miles from the center of Gettysburg. The Mason Dixon line runs right through the middle of the home, how cool is that! The hosts were so warm & welcoming, that we felt right at home. Beds were incredibly comfortable & the breakfast, snacks & wine were delicious & all included in the price. Price was very reasonable & we rented the entire house for our girls weekend! Wineries are very close by as well. Tells Bea the girls sent you!

Can’t say enough about the good food and the good atmosphere at the Mary Penn. This historical house built in 1793, straddling the Mason Dixon line, has been restored with care. The rooms are so comfortable! You’ll awaken to birdsong, followed by a delicious and plentiful homemade breakfast. You’ll feel entirely at home in these beautiful surroundings, a short drive from the battlefield. Bea and David are gracious and down to earth hosts. The best B&B I’ve had the pleasure to visit.

More than 10 years ago I wrote a review here for Mallmore House in Connemara, calling it the best B&B I had seen. Well, move over, Ireland - the Mary-Penn now tops the list. Located about half way between Gettysburg and Taneytown, a mile down a gravel road in the middle of a 250 acre working farm, the house sits just above Marsh Creek on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border (the Mason-Dixon Line).||||Built of stone and brick in the 18th and 19th centuries, the two-storey building was purchased by the Waybright Family in 1979 and fully restored to its Civil War Era glory. My husband wanted a get-away to Gettysburg and I had a hard time finding a B&B for the weekend. Since I found that TripAdvisor somewhat changed its ranking system, I read the reviews for all inns and B&Bs very carefully and found the Mary-Penn Bed and Breakfast, with an almost perfect 5 star rating, somewhat down on the list.
