I had a wonderful overnight with friends. The hospitality was above & beyond and the food was truly delicious! It was a really chilly December night and we were toasty warm inside the inn enjoying the beautiful view. Every window had a fantastic view.
Check in with Greg went smoothly. He was very nice and gave us a tour of the house. Then went to the Iverson room. Very roomy and loved the view. Went to the car and brought up our luggage. Sat for a while to figure out where we were going to have dinner. Noticed that there was a smoke alarm bracket on the ceiling by the door, but no smoke alarm. Although smoking is not allowed, I had concerns because it's an older building. By the time I got back into the car, I realized I was having breathing issues. While at the restaurant, I was feeling better. Discussed it with my husband and we agreed that I was probably going to continue to have breathing issues if we stayed here. When we got back to the Inn we were greeted at the door by Sue. I was standing in the doorway talking to he
We were in Gettysburg for New Years, sight-seeing and on a getaway for our 7 year anniversary. We stayed first at a local hotel--fine, but noisy and crowded. While touring the Gettysburg Military Park and Battlefields, my husband and I passed by the Doubleday Inn. We decided to give them a try, and were not disappointed. Doubleday is a beautiful historical inn, very private, located right on the battlefield. Our room was lovely --the Iverson, with spacious bathroom, and gorgeous views. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by owner, Greg Rosensteel, and Sue's delicious, homemade banana bread. Greg's family has quite the history, and we were dazzled by his humble and gracious spirit, as well as his many humorous jokes and stories. Greg also cooks up a great breakfast, complete with freshly
Had the privilege of staying at this lovely bed and breakfast on February 14 and 15th. Very clean, comfortable and right on the battlefield. It’s decorated beautifully and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The owners, Greg and Sue are very personable and so friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Doubleday Inn has the best location in Gettysburg. Being able to stay on the battlefield is a unique experience. We loved the location. You can’t ask for a nicer innkeeper than Greg. He’s knowledgeable, has family history related to the battle and is just a nice person. Greg is the owner, cook, manager, maintenance person, cleaner, and lawn care man. Which makes it almost impossible to be critical. However, the website for this Bed and Breakfast is a bit misleading. Greg likes to refer to breakfast as basic, that includes burnt bacon, overdone eggs or French toast made without the egg. One small glass of orange juice, a bit of fruit, mediocre coffee that is always in need of being refilled. Coffee is only available at breakfast. Basic describes the housekeeping and cleanliness. Comfort is
