Weirdly I have been traveling and needed places to work on the road. I asked ChatGPT and she suggested public library study rooms. This one had a great quiet study room which was free and a second floor with quiet comfortable seating. A kids section which was out of this world. Complete with a young adults section. If you are working remotely or have kids in tow this is a must stop.
I am in Georgia, but my mother lives in Gettysburg. She recently purchased a new phone and grew quite frustrated with not knowing how to use it. I called and set her up an appointment so the staff could help her with her questions. She was reluctant to go because she thought the staff would grow frustrated with her and she did not want to be embarrassed. She went to her appointment and raved to me about how patient and helpful the staff (particularly Bob) was with her. He patiently answered her questions and was very friendly. Thank you all for what you do!
Really very nice library- well organized with very kind staff behind the desk and amongst the books! We have been frequent flyers more of the activities and reading “in”the library rather than checking out books-we forget them so often at home! The library provides a nice environment for the community to gather, learn and socialize. Sometimes in the summer when it’s so hot it’s just so nice to go in and visit with a character in a book! Nice job Gettysburg😊
Nice book selection. My kids love going to the kid section downstairs.
Way too noisy. Very nice staff but noise level is not acceptable. This is the loudest library I have ever been in. We use "a" library to work in from time to time so we can have a quiet space and it is very irritating knowing that we cannot count on the one in our town. The quiet space should be posted and enforced in any library. One other issue is the creaky chairs from the year of the flood. I understand keeping the older chairs for budget reasons but at least have the maintenance person turn them over and add some soap or caulking and tighten the screws. That would fix some of the annoyance. I am actually willing to do that for free for them.
