Mermaids Restaurant

This is such a cool place that offers a large menu with many choices for any type of eater. The atmosphere is what drew us in to try it out and we loved being out on the patio. It was peaceful and we were able to hear the waves and enjoy the view. It was quiet as we got there early, but as it started to fill up for dinner of course the noise level changed the atmosphere as expected so just plan accordingly 😊. The portions are very large- dinners come with 3 sides and garlic bread (which is literally the best garlic bread I've ever had and I am a garlic bread lover btw.) Prices are very reasonable for the portions you get. Our food came out quickly, at the right temperature, and cooked just right! We were impressed all the way around. We decided to stop and have lunch based on some very good reviews. We opted for a New England clam chowder, a clam strip basket and a fish and chips basket. The place was empty so we did not expect too much. We understand it’s probably because it was after the season was already over and shortly before they close down for the season. Wow were we wrong! The service from Patti our server, to the quality and taste of all the food was out of this world! I will say I am old lol, and I’ve been eating clam strips my whole life. And I always thought clam strips were supposed to be somewhat chewy. Oh my God was I so wrong lol all those years. These clam strips were not only seasoned breaded and fried to perfection, but for the first time in all my life, I realize clam strips can be tender if done

Patti was our server and was very nice and efficient! We enjoyed our meal and would return to Mermaids. I had then seafood kabob and we got the Mediterranean mezze platter for an appetizer. Loved that is has dune front views and is a BYOB!

I am a traveler from Korea. The waiter was so kind from start to finish and I had a satisfying meal until the end. Thanks to you, Patti waiter, we had a better trip. Thank you! The meal was also very delicious.

This review is a bit late but all the more reason to note, came to Cape May w friends this summer for the first time & after arriving & unpacking this was our very first dining spot. Randomly walking a few blocks & this spot ticked off all the boxes, right off the beach, huge space inside, tons of tables & super fast & friendly service. We loved everything, food was delicious & all were very attentive. Pretty big portions, highly recommend!
