Mad River Barn

On a busy holiday Sunday, staff was fun, hustling, and on point. Gracious host (even while cleaning and helping staff!) great bartenders getting it done! Food was Ala excellent. It’s so good to see a place rise to a busy (hopefully expected) night, rather than being swamped and overwhelmed. Good job by all! And the space is lovely, right near bases of Mad River and Sugarbush. Nothin’ better than the Mad River Valley!

NIce comfotable place to stay. Excellent breakfast! Staff were very accomodating and friendly. Some trails in the immediate area.

We hosted our daughter's wedding here last weekend and could not be happier. Everything and everyone was wonderful! The food was excellent, the service perfect, the rooms were very comfortable, and their assistance and coordination was invaluable! So many of our guests have told us that it was one of the best weddings they've ever attended and I have to agree. There was a casual elegance to the entire event that made everyone feel welcome. I cannot say enough, I wholeheartedly recommend Mad River Barn.

I give this place a one star only because breakfast was nice. I read the negative reviews and I am not alone, if you are a guest and plan on staying in a beautiful and charming suite don't. As the owner stated there are "rustic charm" not at all. The room was cheaply decorated, no color, lighting during the night was terrible, there was a tiny frig just sitting in the corner the room, and I could go on but you get the point. I am a designer and this is not at all what I expected based on the pictures online. We arrived at night but in the morning staff was very unwelcoming all young adults that had no energy to entertain and greet guest. I did reach out to them and they had excuses for everything.

This place was disappointing. Essentially an unstaffed, minimal B&B, with no place for bags but the floor as you walk in. No table, no chair, poor lighting in the bathroom for shaving/make-up. Beds were worn out and very uncomfortable. Several guests went into the closed pub to sit with their families in the evening , had no idea if this was allowed because no one was at the desk. No dinner services available Monday - Wednesday in the restaurant, recommend eating before arriving. The breakfast was good, hats off to the cook! This place feels like it’s set up for weddings and a B&B as an afterthought.
