As a serious barbecue enthusiast who enjoys everything from smoking meats to perfectly grilled dishes, I can confidently say Hoodoo was well worth the hour-long trip. The moment I arrived, I was impressed—the outdoor barbecue pits and smokers immediately set the tone and drew me in. It’s an experience before you even walk through the door. Inside, the atmosphere has a rustic western charm that pairs perfectly with the food. It felt authentic, warm, and inviting. Our waiter was outstanding—kind, courteous, and attentive. They guided us through the ordering process and menu options, which I truly appreciated since it was my first visit. Now, the food—absolutely exceptional. Every bite showcased the patience and skill that comes with true barbecue mastery. The meats were slow-cooked to perf

HooDoo Brown BBQ – Ridgefield, CT Listen… I’ve eaten BBQ all over, and I don’t say this lightly: HooDoo Brown BBQ is the real deal. Not “pretty good for the Northeast” BBQ. I’m talking stand-your-ground, smoke-soaked, silence-at-the-table BBQ. You walk in and the smell hits you first — that deep, honest wood smoke that tells you someone’s been babysitting meat all night. No shortcuts. No funny business. The brisket? Tender enough to pull apart with your fingers, bark on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned just right so it doesn’t need to hide behind sauce (but the sauces are excellent if you want them). The pulled pork is rich and smoky, not mushy, and piled high like they’re not worried about food costs. And the ribs? Fall-off-the-bone without being overcooked — that sweet spot

We finally made it to one of the top BBQ spots in CT, and now we understand why it’s always spoken about so highly! Hoodoo has definitely taken the number one spot in our ranking of best bbq in the state. From the nachos, to the brisket and even the smoked turkey, everything was incredible! It was a great spot to catch up with friends from the area. Attentive service as well, but we didn’t feel rushed, even considering a wait was starting to form for weekend lunch. Can’t wait to come back and try more, this is a meal I’ll be thinking about for a while!

We heard that this was some of the best bbq in CT. I’m a big bbq lover, and do much bbq myself. Hoodoo Brown did not disappoint! This was the best bbq that I’ve tried in the surrounding areas. We went for the bbq plates for the table, so we got the try everything available and we shared amongst the whole table. Unfortunately the pork belly wasn’t available when we arrived, sold out. We had the brisket, pork ribs, beef rib, and the sausage. The corn bread was good also. Now the desserts, well the speak for themselves. Absolutely delicious!! And don’t forget the peach iced tea!!!! Highly recommend Hoodoo Brown BBQ. I’m definitely returning for more food!

Visiting from out of town and I must say from places we visited on the East Coast this place had the best customer service. The staff was kind, friendly, welcoming our host even took the time to go through the menu with us as new customers. Me and my family ordered brisket, turkey, crispy pork and half a slab of ribs. Everything was delicious. Fresh and prepared to be so presentable. I recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town if you like BBQ. Definitely one of the best BBQ spots I have ever been to in the U.S!
