Charlie's Smokehouse

We made our way up to Charlie’s Smokehouse from Ephraim and it was worth it. There was plenty to choose from and they also had non-fish options to purchase as well. Everyone was so friendly that we even got to see how they smoke their fish!

Smelled wonderful when I walked iin, they had four kinds of smoked fish, salmon, trout, whitefish and....something else I can't remember. Also they had cooked shrimp, guessing it was smoked also..... The trout was from Lake Huron and the whitefish was from Lake Michigan, so those are the two I got. I thought the price was really reasonable and they were both delicious, and totally different, of course. The place was clean and bright, and they all kinds of other little things, like mustards, local sodas, chips and shirts and cups, ice cream, postcards. Service was quick and friendly. Was it the best smoked fish in Door County, like I'd read about? Maybe, I don't know for sure since this is the only place in the county I've gotten smoked fish, but it very well could be true!

We visited Sunday July 20, 2025. We always stop here every time we’re up in Door County for some chips and smoked salmon or smoked salmon dip. Unfortunately, they were out of the smoked salmon dip ready when we arrive today but the smoked salmon is awesome. The ice cream scoops are very generous and reasonably priced. and we also got a chocolate bar because seroogies just really great chocolate. I think it’s out of Green Bay. Across the street is also a really cute shop with handmade soaps and pottery, etc. which I always like to stop at when we’re up there. They also have a deck overlooking the water out back, which I never knew for some reason, but that was a really nice place to have our snack.

You get hit with the smoked smell right as you get out of the car. Got smoke salmon and salmon spread. They have tables outside with nice view of the lake to enjoy your food. You can also see below how they are smoking the salmon. Very nice place and great smoked fish.

Monday before Christmas I called to get some Atlantic Salmon delivered before Christmas. On Tuesday the 23, it was here before 2pm. They have some of the best smoked salmon I've ever had. We normally drive up to Gills Rock, but this time we had it shipped. Thanks to all the folks @ Charlie's. And Happy Christmas, and a Merry New Year.
