Arbogast Inn

Beautiful old victorian home with a gorgeous room. King size bed and fireplace to boot. The owner/innkeeper, Ms Betty, is more than hospitable. She went out and got some Maple sugar donuts to have in the common area for us guests. I had to leave early so she packed me a breakfast for the road. It is also right on top of the downtown area, but not in the middle of the action. So it's a bit more peaceful/less traffic. Magical experience - Thanks Betty!

We stayed for 2 nights in the Jane Austen room. The room was lovely! We truly enjoyed it. I love older houses, and this one was very quaint. Although the bathroom was detached, it was private and we both loved the claw foot bath. The owner was so nice and really did what she could to make sure we felt welcome. She was full of interesting information and absolutely warm and inviting. If we're ever in the area again, we would definitely opt to stay there again.

We found ourselves without a place to stay while traveling Hwy 205. We checked Trip Advisor and trusted the reviews for Arbogast Inn. So glad we did. Betty had a room for us and was a very welcoming hostess. She was flexible on our late arrival time and selection of accommodations. We stayed in the Poe room. The beds were comfortable and everything was extremely clean. We loved the décor and the entire atmosphere in general. Breakfast might be a little light for some travelers- but it was just right for us. Cereal, fruit, juice and homemade blueberries muffins. She even sent us with the extra muffins. I'd rather pay the price we did ($99 +tax), than pay more for the night and get eggs/bacon breakfast. We really enjoyed Betty sitting a visiting with us as we ate breakfast. She

It is my favorite getaway, restful, beautiful scenery, and our host Betty is a gem! Look forward to coming back every year. You can walk everywhere and the quaint shops and eateries are great. Over the years I have had a chance to stay in all of the rooms but my favorite is the Jane Austen. Love the views and comfort of this room. Monterey and the Arbogast Inn should not be missed.

The room, location and amenities were all lovely, but because we were there for a funeral of a dear friend, the best part for me and my family was Ms. Betty herself. She stayed up late to meet us after a long trip from Florida, fixed us hot tea and delicious breakfasts and saw us off at 4 AM a couple of days later when we had to leave. In addition, she packed up and mailed me my glasses and phone charger i had carelessly left as we rushed out so early on departure day. I would highly recommend staying at Arbogast Inn - such a great stately old home in that beautiful region of the mountains. The wild flowers as well as Ms Betty’s flowers around the property were gorgeous the end of July, and just driving around the lush cool mountains was a delight. We will definitely return.
