Union Block Italian at the Landing

Union Block is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Penn Yan. The staff were friendly and accommodating to requests, and brought the food out in a timely manner. The decor is nice, perfect for casual dining or a birthday. The food was alright. We got the garlic bread, fried calamari, and a few of the pastas to try. The garlic bread was definitely a highlight, with it tasting pretty good and crisp. The Fried calamari was good, pretty standard as other Italian restaurants are. The pastas were good, though some of the sauces could've been better. Overall, a nice Italian spot to try.

We went to celebrate my son’s 30th birthday and had an amazing experience from the minute we walked through the door. With the stone walls and old wood features it took me back some of the small restaurants from my trip to Italy. OMG! The garlic bread!! Roasted garlic cloves to spread on top! The chicken piccata was to die for! My son and his wife are vegetarians and had plenty of choices. They had the Bianca pizza and the Kale, garlic and cherry pepper pasta. We also had the Spicy Chicken Riggies, and the Italiano pizza. All were very, very good. And as you can see from the dessert photo, we didn’t enjoy it at all! All were decadent!! Thanks to Heather, Ashley and the entire staff for making this such a great experience!

Italian American classics worth every calorie. The garlic bread was TO DIE FOR. Clams with white wine and garlic were incredible. Fresh Caesar wedge. The fra diavolo was quite devilish with a KICK. Super yummy and friendly service.

The food was fantastic. Drink selection superb. Kids' menu items were on point for the little ones in our group. The atmosphere was cozy, but it definitely got loud at times, and it got hard to hear across the table if you had a large group like we did. **Reservations definitely recommended**

Went to this place with some friends and family, we were all looking forward to some good itlalian food. However, I was a disappointed with my carbonara, the sauce wasn't the right consistency/texture and the garlic was so strong it overpowered the whole dish. I ordered the fresh housemade pasta but unfortunately didn't get to appreciate it because of the strong garlic. My boyfriend's bolognese was good, but some of the meat in the sauce was cold. He ordered a meatball with the bolognese which was juicy and tender. My friend chicken masala was under seasoned. The complementary garlic bread was delicious. Overall the service was good but the food was lacking, I probably won't return here.
