Was excited for a romantic Valentine's weekend dinner at Twigs, We had 7:30 PM reservations and were seated immediately, which was a great start! However, the wheels fell off after that—it took a full hour for our food to arrive. By the time the food showed up, I’d completely lost interest in the dessert I’d been dreaming about all day. The Silver Lining: The food itself was actually delicious. The Oyster Orleanaise and the NC Shrimp Cocktail were fresh and perfectly prepared, and the Tomato Bisque was a highlight. The Atmosphere: Classic, cozy mountain fine dining. The Service: Seated quickly, but the kitchen or service pace was just too slow for a reservation-based dinner. If you aren't in a rush and just want to enjoy the ambiance, the food is worth it. But if you're hungry... maybe gra
Halfway through dinner, I suddenly realized where the name Twigs might come from — the charming twig handrails out front, the twig-inspired furniture in the lobby, and the elegant lighted twig partition dividing the dining room. The craftsmanship throughout the space is truly beautiful. I also loved the classic white tablecloth atmosphere — it gave the restaurant such an inviting fine dining feel. Both of our meals began with the freshest salads. I absolutely loved the Gorgonzola walnut dressing, while my husband couldn’t stop raving about the Lusty Monk honey mustard — he said it was one of the best salads he’s ever had! For our entrées, my husband ordered the venison chops, and they were divine. The chef’s creative combination of deer, blueberries, kale, and pimento cheese grits was in
Took my wife here for her 40th birthday. We have never been here before. The ambiance was great and we loved the waitress. She was knowledgeable about the menu. I order the Joyce Farm chicken breast and I order the smashed potatoes instead of the vegetables. It came out with the smashed potatoes and some other kind of potatoes I never ordered and no purée. The chicken was so dry and no seasoning. It was no where near worth $30. Wife ordered the bow tie pasta with shrimp and it was good but nothing special. I probably wouldn’t go back given how expensive it is. I could have grilled a better chicken than what they make. Our bill was $70 before tip.
My husband and I went here on our first night while visiting the area. The atmosphere inside was very cute, perfect for a date. Although we liked what we ate. I had an extremely hard time finding anything to eat as a person with a gluten allergy. The menu was not labeled and the restaurant wasn’t very accommodating. The waiter only had one thing on the entire menu I could eat(a salad), and I added grilled salmon to it. We liked the taste of our meals, however, the portion sizes of the meals left us both hungry after.
Rustic meets fancy at this cute little restaurant in Blowing Rock. We didn’t have a reservation but we got there shortly after 5pm and were able to get a table on a Thursday night. The atmosphere is intimate and my husband and I enjoyed our experience. We started with the fried Brussel sprouts which had a dipping sauce that had a good flavor. My husband got the wild caught salmon and I got the filet mignon. The filet did have some chewy fat I had to cut off but it was good overall. We also got the Cesar salad with our meals. We finished with the Triple Chocolate cake and decaf espresso which were lovely. On Thursday nights the bar has a beer flight special so the bar was packed as soon as the doors open. They do have daily bar specials and a separate menu for the bar as well. Great place t
