Customer Reviews
We live on Oahu and stopped in on a whim while searching for authentic Mexican food — and this place absolutely delivered. The flavors were spot-on and felt genuinely authentic, which can be hard to find here. Parking is easy with both street parking and nearby public lots available. The restaurant sits toward the back of the square with plenty of seating. It’s not very visible from the road, but there’s a sign that makes it easy enough to find once you’re close.
This place was comically bad. Not only is this in NO WAY authentic Mexican, absolutely nothing was made fresh and both the shrimp and baja fish tacos tasted terrible. Tortillas were stale and tasted of freezer burn, they used Japanese tempura shrimp, and the salad looked like it just came from a lettuce packet. Many 5/5 of the reviews are either fake or from people who have never eaten Mexican food before. Save your money and eat elsewhere.
No wait to order and meal was ready in 5 minutes. Tacos were fresh, hot and delicious! More food than expected. I had the birria tacos. I will be coming back!
Tlacuaches 808 is a hidden gem tucked into Eaton Square, and it absolutely delivers on flavor and hospitality. We ordered online and we chose to walk out to pick up. and ended up savoring one of the best taco experiences we’ve had in Honolulu. We ordered the Birria Tacos, which were rich, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The consommé on the side was a game-changer -deep, savory, and ideal for dipping. The portions were generous, and the food felt homemade in the best way. You can tell they take pride in their ingredients - everything from the fresh herbs to the slow-cooked meats tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Service was warm and welcoming. Even though it’s a casual takeout-style spot, the staff made sure we felt taken care of. Prices are fair considering the quality and quan
This was one of the hidden gems we found during our vacation to Hawaii. Although it’s located a little further away from the Waikiki area, it’s 100% worth the walk. The tacos were spectacular. The portions were big and our order for 2 was more than we could eat in one sitting. The one thing to be aware of is that there isn’t any sitting available inside. There are a couple of seats and tables outside but most customers seemed to take the food to go. In any case, if you’re coming to Hawaii, from an overseas country, this spot will be the closest you get to real Mexican food.
