Thistle Inn Restaurant

Our meals for four people were all quite good. The seafood chowder is over priced for it's size. The mushroom tart appetizer was excellent. The seasonal fall salad with greens, pears, pistachios, cranberries/craisins, feta was outstanding. We all loved the ambiance. Our servers were all excellent. Location very convenient to where we were staying. Scallops with potato gnocchi, spinach and bacon was very good, a little too rich on top of all the rest. Chicken and shrimp fettuccine was reported to be "good". Lobster appetizer was reported as very good. The way they serve hot tea is amazing. Good Pinot Noir. We didn't stay at the hotel. A memorable meal.

The restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel and they were spot on! The ambience of the historic building was romantic. We both had the sirloin steak which was very well cooked and flavorful. They also have a very nice wine list. But the best thing by far was the blueberry pie, it was seriously the best pie I've ever had!! 10/10 recommend!!

We are very happy with the Thistle Inn. We stayed in the Sherman zwicker room on the second floor. The place is a little old but it was clean and had charm. The bathroom has been upgraded and had everything needed. It’s great that the rooms are all named after old schooners along the Maine coast. Although there is no one on site, the manager was very responsive and responded immediately to text messages sent to the number for the Inn(not the restaurant). We did not get an email with the check in info, but they sent it right away by text. The restaurant is excellent.

A truly elegant experience! This was the first time I was asked by a waiter how I would like my salmon cooked! I asked for medium and they served it that way. Literally melted in my mouth! Best salmon I've ever had in my life!

My wife and I enjoyed wonderful food here. We shared a crab cake appetizer and followed it with steak tips (pictured below). We finished the meal with a blueberry pie slice a la mode. Everything was extremely well prepared and presented. I can honestly say the steak tips were the best I have ever had. The blend of flavors with the green beans, fried shallots and mashed potatoes and demi glaze was outstanding. Highly recommended.
