The Quarry Restaurant & Tapas bar

We came to town to celebrate a birthday here last night. I am shocked...the food was phenomenal! Mason City isn't exactly known for culinary expertise but I will gladly admit that The Quarry impressed me! We had a party of 20 so I tried a bit of everything but will only focus on the dishes I personally ordered. I started out with the Mussels in White Wine/Bruschetta sauce, followed by the Pear & Fig salad, and had the Osso Bucco and Duck as entrées. The flavors all complemented each other so well! The meat was incredibly tender, and the portions were hefty. The service was extraordinary; all of my food came out at the right temp, and everyone's dishes (all 20) were served at the same time. This is a huge feat! Honestly, I can't wait to have another reason to go back. Bravo, Quarry...Bravo!

Every dish we had was wonderful! The Harvest salad was the best salad I’ve ever eaten. My husband had the Braised Pork, and I had the Filet Mignon and Pear/Fig Salad. We sat on the patio. The weather was perfect. The service was 5 Star. This was the best meal, best service, best atmosphere we’ve had in a very long time.

The food was excellent and served quickly. The salmon was cooked perfectly and my wife enjoyed the walleye tacos. Being from out of state I was surprised to see a 4% service charge for use of card payment. Apparently this just went into effect in July 2025. However debit cards are not allowed to be charged a service fee, only credit cards. I assume this is so new that unless you bring it to the servers attention you will get charged a service fee if you use your debit card like I did.

Great place to meet friends for a nice meal. Our friends came over from Cedar Rapids to meet us for lunch at the Quarry. They are both vegetarians and had plenty of choices here. Our server was excellent, and the food was tasty. All of us took home leftovers because the portions were very generous. My wife and I shared a pair and fig salad. That was incredible!! She had the club sandwich which she enjoyed, and I had the five meat flatbread, which was very filling. We would absolutely return here for another meal.

Great burger. Server was attentive and efficient. Nice casual atmosphere. Customers all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also, a good location in a open mall of stores downtown.
