Tall Man’s Homemade Ice Cream

I’ve been here a couple times throughout the years. It never disappoints. The ice cream is really good and the scoop is generous. My favorite flavor is coffee. My boyfriend likes to get milkshakes from here sometimes and he likes them. The service is good, the workers are always nice and efficient.

Ok, going to be honest. They are at a good location, and is pretty clean. BUT 1. They don't let you taste the flavors. I mean what kind of ice-cream store wouldn't do that?? Upon asking, they said "some people took advantage of it". I was shocked to hear that response. You could limit to 3 per person, and how much will one take advantage of by just asking for half -a -teaspoon. How do I decide which one to try? You expect me to pay $5-6 just to taste? Ridiculous! 2. And just because of 1., i selected a flavor that turned out to be poor, not bad, but easily forgettable. 3. I had tasted their ice cream once, a long time ago, and thought of visiting again, going out of my way, but i think i am not going back there. Best pistachio ice cream ive ever had..loaded with pistachios..my dad passed away in 2020 (lived on Shadow Lane in Cromwell) He loved your pistachio.. Honestly the last thing he ate was a cup of pistachio with hot fudge, whipped cream n a cherry on top from Tallmans. My husband and I live in Bolton Ct..just last week drove down to pick up a half gallon of pistachio to take home. Definitely worth the trip ❤️

We had this in our list for long time. We were hearing nice feedbacks for this place and every time we pass through this shop, we wish to stop next time and finally we were there, early August , in a not-so-hot afternoon. Well, personally I have a soft corner on ice creams, and because 1st impression should be good. So, we dint experiment much from the huge list of flavors they offer. And We ordered the one we like most - the Roasted Almonds and butter peccan. And they passed. Not with high grade though but enough to come back again to try other flavors. They offer all the flavors we know plus some unusual ones. See the list in photos I shared. The lady at counter was helpful enough to guide me through the list and recommend what they serve best. Tall Man’s Ice Cream is truly the heart of CT 🍦❤️ I was so surprised (and a little emotional!) seeing their new mobile truck show up at my kids’ 5th grade picnic, my hometown favorite from Cromwell now serving scoops in Old Lyme too! I’ve loved teaming up with Tall Man’s over the years for our Giveback Santa Sessions alongside Karen Ambler, my son’s kindergarten teacher. Their focus on community is what makes them so special—always showing up for families, schools, and small businesses. From Cromwell to the shoreline, they’re spreading sweetness in every way. 💛
