Sunset Texas Barbecue

I absolutely loved this place. The meat was incredible — everything was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into the food. The service was truly 5-star. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and open, which made the whole experience even better. This is the kind of spot you leave already thinking about coming back. Highly recommend if you love great Texas BBQ!

This place was delicious. I literally crave their brisket. I at least have to go once a week or I am upset honestly best brisket ever and their cream corn OMG definitely go to this place if you want actual brisket and actual barbecue because they are amazing. this place is completely on point. I ate at a different place a couple of weeks ago because Sunset Texas barbecue was closed and oh boy did I regret it I will definitely be back to sunset Texas barbecue because their food is so good just thinking about it, makes my mouth salivate

Texas born person here. Unlike the Charlene person over here , I am not an envious person and I give my honest review. The brisket was pretty good. Way better brisket than Terry Black's from Austin. The sides were good, too, but I wish the potato salad had more mustard and pickles. If this was sold in Texas, it would be an absolute hit. This place is a hidden gem in Honolulu. The best restaurant in Honolulu for sure.

IYKYK. This is not good BBQ! If they say it is then their mouths are broken and it wasn't the food that broke them lol. This is not an angry review. It's simply to inform and warn others on what to expect. You can compare the pictures to my descriptions. This was probably some of the worst BBQ I've tried. If you like cornbread, DONT ORDER THE CORNBREAD! It was covered with powdered sugar lol. I took one bite and realized it was mochi, corn mochi with a smidge of cornbread flavor and chunks of corn kernels. The brisket was a little below average. Slightly decent flavor, not bad, but sliced into chunks with a huge strip of fat in the middle of every piece (check my pics). It was almost all fat. ​I was first introduced to Sunset Texas BBQ when they were still in Wahiawa. Having never had true Texas-style BBQ, I can only hope this is as-close-as-it-gets to the real thing... because it's absolutely amazing. During COVID, they relocated to Kakaako. Towards the end of COVID I've started pre-ordering their family pack, and picking them up. ​They are now more accessible than ever, and you can order "by the plate" or even "meat by the pound." The "by the plate" comes with four slices of meat, which sounds small, but with two sides and a choice of rice or bread, you can get full surprisingly fast.
