Spring Road Restaurant

Went here for lunch yesterday at the last lunch rush of the day before closing. Service was great, the ladies were killing it for being so slammed. Food came out in a timely manner, we were just a little disappointed in the burger. The burger didnt seem to be seasoned. Everything else was perfectly fine and we would still gladly come back, just maybe would get something else instead.

Local and Delicious… and Surprisingly Popular While visiting my sister in Carlisle, PA after a work trip to southeastern PA, we decided to grab lunch before I jetted out of town. My visit was short—less than 24 hours—which reminded me of something Benjamin Franklin (arguably PA’s most famous historical figure) once said: “Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.” Wise words to live by. What didn’t stink, however, was the food and service at May’s Restaurant. I actually passed this stand-alone spot on my way to my sister’s and was intrigued. A quick search revealed that there are at least six restaurants named May’s within a few hundred miles. Who knew? Apparently, “May’s” is the John Smith of restaurant names. When the owner answered the phone, her tone was surprisingly flat and disengaged, which isn’t how she usually sounds. At first I almost found it a little funny, but I didn’t want to be disrespectful. I’ve had the pot pie dinner special here before, and it came out gray... gray! I couldn’t eat it. I’ve ordered the Greek salad too, and it’s a personal pet peeve of mine when small containers get placed on top of the food, though a lot of places around here do that. The bigger issue was the dressing, which was spoiled, and when I called to let them know, all I got was a flat “sorry.” There was no attempt to make it right, and I do feel a refund would have been appropriate for a salad that arrived with dressing that had gone bad. Great little place. Sever was great she was very fast and seemed to enjoy her job. My wife and son along with myself had a great meal and very reasonable priced. Keep up the great work mays!

Wow, this is a great little family owned restaurant with fantastic cooking! The food was awesome. I got the Captain's Platter didn't quite finish. The crabcakes were delicious, fish was great, scallops were cooked to perfection. What a wonderful addition to the Cumberland Valley!
