Shiki Japanese Cuisine

I stopped in this past Sunday as they opened and my experience was pretty grand. I first treated myself to a flight of their Premium Sake which was a tasty flight without going overboard. For edibles, I chose a Yellowtail Roll and Veggie Udon. Both were presented beautifully with a taste to back it up. I’m adding Shiki to the “I Will Come Back” list. Getting there is straight forward using your favorite navigator as well as parking. Pricing is very fair in my mind for what I ordered.

I rarely leave reviews, but the way my son and I were treated today was unacceptable. We went in for lunch and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered, ate there, and even purchased additional food to go. After paying the bill, I selected “No tip” on the card reader because I intended to tip in cash when our server returned. While we were waiting for our to-go order, another staff member (who was not our server) picked up the receipt and came back to our table loudly demanding that we leave a tip. She stated that we “needed to tip” and that “people always tip.” When I calmly asked if tipping was mandatory, she walked away speaking under her breath and continued making comments, including in another language. I always come back here whenever I’m craving for Japanese food in HMB because I truly love their Honey Crunch Roll. I’m obsessed with it because the sauce is amazing, and every bite is filled. I’ve also tried their rice meals and noodles (not the biggest fan because I know they could do better) but the serving sizes are definitely worth every penny. Staff is very attentive too, even the chefs at the bar/sushi area. Among all these, their Miso soup is the underdog which they give when you order a rice meal. Would come back!

Shiki is a friendly and comfortable Japanese restaurant. The lunch specials are great with lots of choices. The sashimi was excellent.

Fantastic time! Great service -- waitress was super friendly, took us less than 10 min to get our food, and the food itself tastes great. It's one of the pricier Japanese places on the coast, but definitely the best. We had the chicken Udon, the spider roll hand roll, and the steak skewers, and it came out to about $40.
