Omg dis place cook the best food hands down winnahz everything onolious 😋
I always visit North Star in School Street each time I go to Honolulu. This is practically an extension of our home kitchen for authentic Ilocano cuisines. This unassuming place is our go-to for chicharon and dinak-dakan. The best, freshest, and closest to the ones from the Philippines. I have yet to try their longanisa and see if this can be added to our go-to lists. They have other dishes that you can buy as an ala carte or part of a plate lunch to go. This is a very tiny place, so there is no dine in option. They have a limited selection of Filipino products you can peruse. Friendly staff as always.
first time coming here after hearing good things about this place, i came in at about 11:15-11:30am and it wasn’t busy, so I was glad that there was no wait. I ordered 1 1/2lb of the chicharron and also a plate lunch with pancit & adobo. The chicharron was perfectly crispy with the vinegar sauce poured on or dipped in. I love their chicharron as its skin is crisp to perfection and the meat was juicy and delicious. I also tried their Biko which was just right, not too sweet and was the perfect way to end my meal. The aunties working there were so nice and sweet, made me feel so welcomed. I recommend this place to everyone!
I kid you not. Looking for good food? This little mom and pop store has the best filipino food. Their pork adobo is a must. For me its one of the best pork adobo on the island and I have tasted quite a few. Check them out if you can and always support local. 🤙
Northstar every time I visit you I feel as though I gain 10 pounds. Its not your fault that you serve such yummy chicarron, longaniza, adobo, guisantes, dinuguan and pinakbet that I can eat endlessly. I feel as though I need to be placed on a restricted amount of visits per month and be fined if I go over my limit. It really sucks that I live right down the street from where you are. I am so sure my cholesterol jumps astronomical proportions after each meal here. But life is short (probably even shorter after eating this food over time)and you shouldn't go without yummy food for long. This place is also my go to, to get Chicarron to make other Filipino dishes. You can get a pound for about nine dollars. All dishes here seem to also be made fresh daily and served up in crockpots on the s
