Customer Reviews
This is one of those Indian restaurants where you see a lot of Indians dining, which usually means the food is truly authentic. We ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill and the Taariwala Goat, and both dishes were flavorful and well prepared. The spices tasted genuine and reminded us of home-style Indian cooking. Our waiter, Hemant, was excellent—very attentive and knowledgeable. He helped us choose the right dishes and made the whole dining experience even better. Definitely a place I would recommend if you’re looking for authentic Indian food.
Enjoyed a great dinner at this place. Initially was skeptical as in Roanoke didn’t expect such a great Indian place to get good food. We ordered a dish of veg and goat curry. Which was really good tasty and well cooked. Enjoyed with the complimentary rice and ordered fresh butter nun. Parking is little expensive as it’s paid and on street parking is hardly available.
Tried chicken biryani, lamb biryani and dal tadka with naan, everything is delicious. They have good ambiance, and the staff are very polite especially hemant.
Always love Nawabs for lunch in Roanoke. The service & food are top notch and reasonable prices. Had lunch for 2 and had a take out box for the next day. Spice levels 1-5. 5 is hottest. I like my spice, but going to a customer that day so stayed with a 2. A 2 made. Y cheeks flush and eyes water. Ask the waiter before you order. Tremendous flavors without the spice, which is why we love going here. Restrooms are ADA compliant, and easy wheelchair seating too.
Appetizer - I tried Tarkari Bhajia, which is onion-carrot-spinach fritters. It was mostly dominated by onion though, which was fine since it was tasting like an Indian spiced onion ring if you will. The chutney was likely tamarind-based so it was the right tangy accompaniment to go with it. For the entree, I ordered Chicken Kozhambu, which is a spicy South Indian style curry, and it comes with white rice. I got a Spinach Kulcha to go with it. Kulcha is a layered bread, with stuffing like onion, or Spinach in this case. The curry had coconut flavor to it, and it’s not exactly authentic South Indian but it works. Spinach Kulcha was too heavy for one person but good nonetheless.
