Altar Coffee

If you want coffee done the right way, go to altar. They truly do exceptional work. Love their flavored drink offerings, but their coffee and espresso stands alone. Love the partnership with Gladheart and the fact that they brew their roasts. They do have limited hours so be sure to check when they’re open or look for the a-frame Altar sign outside of Gladheart.

Interesting location inside a very nice wine shop. I understand Altar Coffee is a pop-up shop around Roanoke that has found a home in the Gladheart Wine and Brews. Delicious coffee made from beans roasted on site. I highly recommend stopping in for your favorite cup of regular or fancy coffee, Matcha and more.

I can honestly say that the combination of these beans with this roast and this brew is the best coffee I've had in the entire Roanoke Valley. There are many good coffee shops here that we enjoy very much, but the flavors, subtleties, and delicacy of the cup I had this morning was a different elevation. It was coffee and mixology married into an experience that was worth the wait of the odd hours and hidden space. It's not a terribly kid-friendly spot, but just grab it to go and head to the park down the street.

Friendly service and a quick chat is always nice. My husband loves the coffee and I keep coming back for the quality tea and superb hot cocoa (made with Homestead creamery milk or plant milk). Limited seating in the wine shop, but definitely a sweet spot to pop in for a few. Go say Hi!
