Mj's Raw Bar and Grille

Mj's is great. They are fresh oysters, a variety of seafood to choose from, and their specials are always knock it out of the park. Oh and if you like burgers one of the best in town. Just be prepared to show up early or to wait. It's always busy...Which is a sign of a great restaurant. Highly recommend. ...and the bar is always a fun place to meet people.

We were a party of six. In New Bern 4 the 2026 spring North Carolina State beekeepers conference. We had dinner here one evening and it was fantastic. I had the seafood pot pie and french fries. Others had lots of oysters and crab cakes for the appetizers we had at the beginning were excellent.

This was a cool little restaurant pub that we went to during MUM Festival as the weather was terrible, so there was nothing going on outside. I cannot remember our waiters name, but we said at the bar so not only was he our waiter he was our bartender and he had a great personality in his service was impeccable! The whole staff was friendly and professional. It’s not a very large place and it can get very busy very quickly just because their food is absolutely delicious. You won’t find better seafood in too many places than MJ’s raw bar and Grill. You will not be disappointed.

New to town and had heard good things...Came in for lunch on a blustery December day. Had a spectacular Manhattan Clam Chowder (at least that's what I'd call it, the tomato and vegetable based one). I'm terrible with names or I would sing the praises of the lovely server. I care about food and so would usually prefer to just talk to the the server and see what they recommend. In this case, she was kind, warm and knowledgeable about offerings and so I never even bothered to look at the menu! Her recommendation of the aforementioned soup was hearty, with a wonderful fish base and lots of fresh vegetables. Heavenly! Great atmosphere. Wonderful and delicious food with traditional and unique seafood sele tions. I chose a tuna poke bowl with seaweed. It was delicious. Of course we had to try their fantastic Bloody Mary's .
