Lancaster Public Library

While the outside of the building that houses this library branch looks imposing, the interior is bright and open, with a vaulted roof, skylights, and a wall of windows on the northern end. They have a ton of DVDs and Blu-ray selections, all manner of books, and several areas with tables and chairs for people to work or read. There is also a big metal fireplace, (though I don't know if it is ever lit) that sort of separates one area with tables and chairs from the rest of the library. The room design seems to be condusive to keeping the noise down, giving a very pleasant experience. The parking lot is behind the building, and does slope considerably. While I haven't experienced it, I would think that the wrong kind of winter conditions could make it treacherous. But they do have assist

I'm not sure if all libraries have changed in the same way, but that's the loudest library I have ever been to. It's like an unattended day care center with virtually non stop crying and screaming. Yet another sign that the generation that parented these toddlers has no concept of common courtesy. Awesome

Great library and staff. Enjoyable atmosphere and the wood burning fireplace on cooler days is wonderful.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. The staff is always friendly and helpful, they go above and beyond to help with anything we need, from finding books to fun extras like sending my toddler home with a free craft. Lots of great free activities and programs to do and a nice selection of kids books and movies. It’s always very clean and organized. They have a nice little play area for little ones and my kids are always excited to go back and never want to leave.
