Irondale Cafe

If you want a true southern cooking cafe, you have found the spot! These guys have a great line up of souther foods, from fried chicken to fried okra. They also have amazing desserts and their service is fantastic! They get busy for lunch, but the line moves pretty quickly! They do give a 5% discount for cash (meaning they uncharge for credit), but this is normal today as small businesses can’t afford to eat credit card fees. Just be aware that you can save if you pay with cash. There is plenty of seating, but also come early! If you get stuck by the train, you might be late to meet your party. The seating area is huge and so is their passion for southern food. Sorry health eaters, nothing here for you, but if you like down home southern cooking, it doesn’t get better!

Perfect southern food dinner and done very professionally and right. Food is always light tasteful and filling. Always on our international when we travel past Irondale.

Fantastic food that is made with quality and love!! It is worth the wait!! Love that history written on the walls from the book, to Alabama historical figures, to the love that is all around!! Tons of food for the cost, every bit worth the money!! Took some friends for the first time and they fell in love with it!!!

Great southern cooking! Chicken livers are cooked just right and not dry. Turnip greens with their homemade vinegar are perfect and I love the stewed cabbages. Oh, forgot to mention the hush poppies are sweet and caking that ca be a dessert. Delicious! If you are in the neighborhood between Leeds and Birmingham, you should definitely give it a try for this lunch place.

These fried green tomatoes are the best I’ve ever had. The other dishes were good, but the green tomatoes truly stood out. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. What more could you ask for? If you haven’t been, you should definitely check it out.
