In & Out Cafe

In & Out Café is one of those hidden gems you’re glad you found… and then slightly mad you didn’t find sooner. It’s a warm, family-run place where they now remember me when I come in — probably because my son’s name is Carter, just like theirs. I guess that makes us extended family now. Yesterday’s haul: their club sandwich, the roaster, and (as always) the tea they somehow convince me to order every time. I did order fries for Carter’s snack… but let’s just say “quality control” required me to taste a few first. Great people, great food, and a place that feels like home — even if you show up just for the tea and end up leaving with half the menu.

If you've been on the hunt for that rare restaurant unicorn—a place that nails the food, value, AND customer service—you can stop searching. I highly recommend the In-N-Out in Elizabeth City, NC. My experience started with a simple phone call before I placed my DoorDash order. I had questions about the online menu, and the person who answered was phenomenal. They weren't just knowledgeable; they were genuinely patient and personal. Honestly, even over the phone, you could feel them smiling as they walked me through the details. That kind of friendly, patient service is almost unheard of these days. The food was the perfect follow-up to the service. THE BEST CAFE/CASUAL RESTAURANT IN TOWN! Very friendly owners & staff and a clean spacious, and comfortable dining area inside. We had a fantastic lunch and then some takeout hand pies (apple, peach & blueberry) just like they were out of the bakery! The lobster rolls and Rueben sandwich platter were exceptionally delicious and reasonable priced for four of us. We're all going back tomorrow to try something different. Everything on the menu was available and freshly cooked/prepared in just a few minutes. Josh & Erin's In & Out Cafe was a special treat with outstanding food and service!

I have eaten here many times, sometimes I eat in and sometimes I get it to go, either way I do it, the food is always delicious. Erin and Josh are top-notch business owners. They know how to take care of their customers. They have delicious, clean food, wonderful customer service and a great atmosphere. This is a place that the locals eat at, and it is one of Elizabeth City's hidden gems!

Do yourself a favor and stop by here!! The steakhouse cheesesteak was one of the best cheesesteaks I have ever had. Tastes like it was straight out of Philly! Fresh thin shaved ribeye and original hoagie bread rolls from Philly! The fresh cut fries were very good and the 3 fruit jack was like a homemade toaster strudel! Flaky, sweet fruit filling, not too sweet, and the perfect ending to a great lunch. The cherry on top was the homey atmosphere and 5 Star customer service that’s hard to come by! In & Out Cafe take extra steps to prepare homemade food with quality ingredients and it shows in the taste. I will be back!
