I always look forward eating at Hap's when I'm on Mercer Island. They've done an amazing job converting an abandoned gas station into a rustic yet modern burger shop. The menu is simple but customizable, and everything I've tried has always been well executed. They also have a selection of homemade milkshakes and usually some really interesting indie soda brands. Would be nice if there was an option to order with a person, but I do like the level of customizability the touchscreen consoles offer.

I’m sorry so say this because I used to love the burgers from here. The $5 fries were very disappointing in both quality and quantity, and the burger patties were burnt. The buns also changed to less tasty ones - minor but this made a big difference in the previous version, and was a major reason we favored this to other burgers.

Edit: this place used to be amazing but unfortunately went downhill. I was hoping it was a temporary glitch but looks like the changes are permanent. Somehow overnight this went from way better than big chains like Red Robin, to worse than McDonalds. They switched from Impossible to black bean burger for vegetarian option which just doesn’t work nearly as well. Now it also comes with barely any fried onions, cheese that’s mostly unmelted, whole thing is wet and stuffed like rags into paper wrapper. It’s nothing like the pic below from few months ago :( Sadly this place is crossed off my list on the island. Previous review: The Rainfire burger is amazing. Sub an Impossible patty and it’s one of the best vegetarian burgers around. The flavors are bold and well balanced with savory mushroom

My new go to burger spot in Washington. The burgers were flavorful, fries crispy, and the soda delicious. I received kind service with a greeting and general chatting with who I think was the owner, the soda they use here is some of the best I've had. The fries were crispy, well salted, and were cooked with beef tallow. The haps burger I ordered was a bit on the wet side but the patties had a good char and seasoning as they use a nice quality beef here, the buns was slightly sweet and buttery and the vegetables were fresh, I added grilled onions which added to the wetness but I love onions on my burger. Highly reccomend!

The new menu is so good! I wasn’t a fan of the old menu and this burger was sooo good! I’ve been back 3 times in the last 3 weeks! I’m looking forward to trying the fried chicken burger but can’t help but order the Haps burger. It’s a true smash patty (two of them, and typically I wouldn’t be into that much beef, but because they are REAL smash patties, they are much thinner than a typical burger, so stick with 2 to try) and it has what I expect burger sauce to taste like, the old sauce was okay. It was more like salad dressing than burger sauce in my opinion. And to be honest, the old burger with its butter lettuce was fine, not my favorite. I think I’m a purist when it comes to a burger and the new burger tastes like what a burger should. If you were a fan of the original Haps burger, m
