This has always been a great cheap breakfast location. The main 5 star is for nostalgia otherwise it would be a 4. But staff is always friendly and quick to help. Never not liked a visit here.

We were super hungry. I remember back in the 80’s & 90’s stopping for late-night and early morning food at Happy Chef restaurants in the Midwest, and that memory was always a great one. You can count on this restaurant chain for a pleasant and affordable experience. The restaurant in Mankato is very easy to spot along highway 169 with the huge 30-foot tall vintage ‘Happy

The best pancakes anywhere! Worth driving from Milwaukee to eat. And the hashbrowns are cooked crispy & buttery every time. A MUST stop!

We came here for the brunch. The cheese curds were surprisingly tasty, very chewy. The pancakes were not bad but the patty was just borderline okay. Overall, the food and service are okay for us. If you ever drive by here, not a bad idea to try this restaurant. The outside chef definitely worths a picture.

Excellent family feeling older style american restaurant. We had the breakfast. Amazing hashbrowns, perfectly crispy, the juiciest sausage we ever had, and excellent service. Overall amazing, 10/10 will return.
