Let’s start by saying this place is overpriced, but the server was nice. The 1 piece fried fish dinner I ordered was $25. Even though you get corn fritters and 2 sides, you can go to JJs Fried Fish & Chicken and get a nice 3 piece combo for $18. The mac-n-cheese was tasty, but the red beans and rice don’t look like red beans I’ve ever seen in Louisiana or Texas. The fish temperature was hot, but the batter was hard. The corn fritters were tasty. The sides were small. They do not have ketchup on the table so you better asks for it when you order. Also, where was the Crystal or Tabasco hot sauces? There’s no need for a take out box because there’s nothing to take out. This was my second visit, but I will most likely not eat there again. It’s cool for the experience but I’ll not be a repe

We stopped by on our way to a concert . Food was very good and the service was excellent. There were four of us and we had a pretty good sampling from the menu: fried deviled eggs (not my fave), artichoke dip, fried green tomatoes, smothered chicken, chicken and waffles, and fried catfish. We all got different sides so we could sample. Simply delicious and hit the spot like good soul food should. Also, very hip and upbeat atmosphere.

We came here for my mom’s birthday on Valentine’s Day, and everything about the night was great. The service was spot on from the moment we walked in. This was my third visit, but it was my family’s first time, and they all left impressed. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, blackened tofu, oxtails, gumbo, and chicken and waffles. Every dish was full of flavor and came out perfectly cooked. There wasn’t a single complaint at the table. They even brought out plates so we could serve my mom’s birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful gesture and really added to the celebration. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely be back.

Fixins is a great place to go. There's great vibes & great energy. I went for my birthday 2.11.72 to treat myself to a simple birthday lunch. The food, music, people, service, drinks, atmosphere, & the connection to cultural roots and SOULFOOD. I had fish nuggets, hush puppies, mac & cheese, candied yams, and a sparkling wine to celebrate "ME" . FIXINS is one of the best Soul Food restaurants in the Sacramento/North Valley area. "YESSS!!!" They know what they're double & they do it quite well...

What are you doing tonight? You should be ‘Fixin’ to get a plate’! My first visit lived up to the hype. I went on a Sunday afternoon. The service was friendly and fast! We only waited 10 minutes for our food. I recommend the Red beans & rice, greens, and the waffles & a wing. For drinks, try the Sac Town Mango Lemonade. It is smooth and tasty! They have dessert options as well. Banana Pudding, Peach Cobbler, and Red Velvet Cake. Plus, a kids menu and kool-aid! Eating at Fixins was reminiscent of eating grandma’s food on a Sunday afternoon. Don’t forget to book a reservation for a more enjoyable experience.
