Doraku Sushi Kaka'ako

We came here for a weekday lunch. It was a challenge to find parking. Our experience: a-the food comes when ready so prepare to share everything or suffer waiting for yours while everyone else gets theirs; b-there are fewer staff during lunch so prepare to be patient; c-portion sizes are highly variable but in general high value for money. We ordered a hamachi carpaccio (5 stars) which was a nice shareable appetizer. Then we each got a main plate: misoyaki butterfish (huge), hamachi kama (huge) and pork belly with scallops (mini). Oh, and in case you need a little starch to go with your fish or meat you can order a bowl of rice (huge). We shared 1 bowl of rice across the 3 of us.

Doraku at Kakaako is a beautiful, classy restaurant with a variety of menu items, made to cater to a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Chef Jigo made us some absolutely phenomenal house specialty rolls. Would highly recommend! The staff is friendly, and helpful.

Had dinner at Doraku tonight and we had such a great experience! The manager Micah, and our server Steffen were both so accommodating and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. My partner and I have been to Doraku a few times now, and the reason we keep coming back is because of the consistently great service and delicious food!! We ordered calamari, oysters, grilled squid (so tender!) , hamachi, and garlic steak everything tasted amazing! What really stood out was how attentive both the manager and our server were, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Customer service matters more to me than anything else! I came here with a large group. The service was great and we had a really nice time. We ordered a ton of different things. The only reason im giving it a 4 is because my friend and I got sick that night following dinner so we think it was something we ate here unfortunately.

Micah is an outstanding server. Everytime we are back in town we make it a point to stop by. The menu is fresh and consistently delicious. There is something to be said for a place that can consistently deliver a tip product each year. The employees hustle; they are attentive. The atmosphere is perfect as well. Maybe the music was a little loud, but it didn’t negatively impact the experience.
