Derry Public Library

Wonderful community resource, worth every penny the town spends on it. I am a mother (in a power wheelchair) and go to this library about once a week with my two kids ages 10 and 11. Upstairs the circulation desk folks are friendly and knowledgeable, downstairs the children’s library has tons of books, games, pretend play, and educational resources. The children’s librarians are excited and very approachable for everyone. It is a great place to let your kids spread their wings. Things I love: 1. Unique Items (metal detectors, portable CD players, board games, guitars, and many more!) 2. Variety and selection of media. 3. Diversity of patrons. 4. Summer reading programs. 5. Great library plenty of resources. Newly reorganized making locating books easier. Great downstairs kids area. They also have a wide range of audiobooks available as well as items like metal detector video games movies and a New Hampshire room.

The library has a lot of great resources, but it's not as quiet as I expected for a study environment. I've been here for two days now, and both times, noise has been an issue. On the first day, kids were running around upstairs, laughing, and I could hear them clearly even through the study room doors. Additionally, two staff members sit in the middle of the library and talk loudly. I was here for four hours one day and three hours another, and they have been talking non-stop. While I appreciate the resources available, it's difficult to focus with so much noise.

Downstairs has a wonderful area for toddlers and children! Great place to stop on a roadtrip with kids when it’s rainy!
