Had a lovely experience here on a date night. The ambiance is simple but comfortable, the service was friendly and fast but not rushed, and the food was good. The pork roll appetizer was delicious, but did come out very hot. My wife enjoyed the Drunken Noodles and I loved the Spicy Curry - they will ask you how spicy you want it, and when I asked about options, they said they go on a scale of 1-5. I chose 4 for the spicy curry and it was hot but doable, especially with rice added.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. I can’t believe that you can find authentic northern Thai food in St. Louis. It’s unthinkable. It’s family owned and it seems everything is cooked to order. But as with any Asian restaurant in St. Louis (or the west in general), some dishes are better than others. Dishes that taste pretty similar to Thailand are gaeng hung lay, larb khua, and hoi tod (all pictured). The nam ngiaw and nuea sawan and not even close to what they taste like in Thailand. The sai oua looks good but I haven't tried it yet. Lastly, the portion sizes are smaller than typical American restaurants and the prices are a tad expensive. This restaurant is probably one of the few more authentic Thai restaurants in St. Louis. If not, you would have to go to Chicago or a bigger city to fi
Chiang Mai is an absolute must-go if you like Thai food. I got the Khao Soi and it was the perfect flavor and it comes with 2 chicken legs that were tender and delicious. Highly highly recommend, if I could give more stars I would.
Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines to ever exist. Give me some Thai, Indian, any other Asian cuisine any-day over most other cuisines. So, when we were craving dinner, I checked for Thai restaurants in the area. Chiang Mai popped up as less than 5 miles away, so I placed a takeout order. I didn't eat inside, but Chiang Mai is spacious and clean, and located in a desirable (but busy) area of Webster Groves. The service was friendly and they had my order hot and ready within 15 minutes. So, I was pretty excited to dig in when I got home. This is where the dilemma starts. We ordered Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ew, and both had an extremely authentic flavor, like Thai food should taste like. However, the dishes were 90% noodles. They were really lacking in vegetables and protein! If t
Shrimp padthai here is the one you must get!! Best pad thai in the US and this is how pad thai should taste like! Highly recommend the Som tum and red curry as well! Best in St. Louis.
