Cape Hatteras is amazing. It’s quiet, not crowded, especially during the week, and the views are unbeatable. The beaches feel like they’re all yours. It’s a hidden gem, and I don’t tell many people about it. This is where I’ll be coming back to for years. Also night the sky is so full of stars it feels endless

Thank goodness the federal government and the state of North Carolina were able to step in and safeguard some of the land on the outerbanks!!! If it weren't for this large national seashore, and other preserved spots, the banks would be completely covered with short-term rentals! As it is, there is a reasonable balance between preserved areas, and developed areas that allow people a place to stay so they can enjoy it. Walk the Beach! Drive the beach. Study the birds and waterfowl. Go fishing. Enjoy Kayaking on the Pamlico sound side. Swim (carefully) in the ocean waves!

Beautiful beaches. Family friendly. There is something for everyone - fishing, kite flying, water sports. See a lighthouse (make reservations online first). Hike around Pea Island. Take the ferry to see the horses on Ocracoke.

Nice spot to take your vehicle and put it on the sand. Tires need to be deflated to under 20 PSI to ride comfortably. To inflate you will need to go down to a gas station down the street as there is construction going on at that Ocean marina across the street and the air pumps have been removed.

One of my favorite places in the OBX! Go see the Bodie Island Lighthouse, watch the ships come into the Oregon Inlet with their daily catches, go off road and drive along the coastline! There was a shipwreck near coast entry 4 - I am told it is being cleaned up now :/
