Banh Appetit

This place is amazing and the service is great. I think this place has some of the best banh mi. I highly recommend it and the price is not bad for the quality of the food. There is limited inside seating but they do have some tables outside.

Wow! This is the best banh mi sandwich I’ve ever had. I randomly stopped in and got the tofu one. It has several well-balanced sauces and the tofu was prepared wonderfully. The vegetables were super fresh too. This may be one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had!

I thought I'd written a review years ago and was so surprised when I realized I hadn't! Better late than never, I guess! Banh Appetit is simply amazing, and I can't recommend them enough! We've been enjoying coming here since they opened a few years ago! Hands down some of THE best Vietnamese food in Portland, especially their signature banh mi sandwiches 👌 It's also just a super cute and cozy spot, and our experience has always been positive and consistent. We're so lucky to have a spot like this in Portland!

We were visiting Portland, Maine, and stumbled upon Banh Appetit (love the clever name!). After seeing some great reviews, we decided to give it a try and ordered two banh mi subs—lemongrass beef and cold cuts. Honestly, these were some of the best banh mi sandwiches we've ever had. The flavors were spot-on, the vegetables were fresh, and everything just worked together perfectly. While the place seemed more suited for takeout (not too much seating), it worked out great for us since we were planning to grab our food and go. The subs were super filling and delicious, and despite the total being around $33 CAD for the two, it was definitely worth it. This is probably the best place in Portland to go for a banh mi. Great experience! It looked like a to-go place. Lots of phone calls coming in for to-go orders. The person manning the front recommended the "Lemongrass Beef Banh Mi". Such a great decision. The bread was soft, and not soggy from the ingredients. Very friendly service as well. If I crave a banh mi again - this place will pop up in my head!
