It is the most authentic and best Vietnamese food in Hawaii, especially true to the flavors of Northern Vietnam. Everything is delicious. The Bun Bo Hue is a bit spicy, but the other noodle dishes have a rich, well balanced flavor and are excellent. If you add the black sauce, the taste shifts to a Southern Vietnamese style, which I also highly recommend. A perfect five star experience with no complaints.
On Valentine's Day, my husband and I were looking for the best place to have a delicious dinner. We tried Istanbul, but the line was too long. Merriman's was also packed. So, we decided to walk around the building by the movie theater. As we reached the front, before the movie entrance, we spotted an amazing place. It wasn't crowded, and the atmosphere looked very calm, with raw cement, wood, and a beautiful bar area. Peeking at the food through the window, we were surprised by how delicious it looked and how reasonable the prices were for such a nice place in the Ward area. We took a chance and went inside, and let me tell you, it was some of the best pho we've had in a while! My husband ordered the Beef Marrow, and I got the chicken pho mini because I wasn't very hungry. Surprisingly, e
I found this restaurant by chance. I was taking my son to a tuxedo fitting at Men's Warehouse right next door when I noticed this gem. The food here has great flavor and definitely does not feel like something that was rushed, but actually made with care for the presentation and flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed and clean. We ordered the regular pho, Bun Bo Hue, and steamed lemongrass clams (thai chili). Again, great flavor, fresh garnished and would definitely recommend for anyone in the mood for some great Vietnamese cuisine!
We tried its summer rolls (tasteless, one of the worst even for Honolulu, I’m not even talking about Little Saigon of Westminster, definitely should avoid this item here) and the in-bone rib pho with briskets, which was about average in taste and texture, though the rib itself was fine. With hundreds of pho shops on the island, you could do better, except this one is located in the Ward Village. The service was friendly but not very efficient, probably it was due to staff’s resting time coming up at 3 p.m. We weren’t provided utensils or napkins. Eventually we got chopsticks, but I had to take the spoons and napkins from an empty table.
Grew up eating Vietnamese everyday as a first generation Vietnamese and loved these dishes. Authentic and fresh, great portions. I loved the banana goi and the hoi an chicken. Very aromatic and fresh. My husband loved his shaking beef - very tender cuts.
