Customer Reviews
Wunsche Bros is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, among many places in the US as well as Europe and Asia. Mark W took care of us, and he’s a great storyteller! Before your food, you get the opportunity to hear the story of the place and imagine how the place evolved over 100 years and can even see upstairs where it used to be an inn. Food was amazing; they have a campfire grill and the pork chops are a non-negotiable. The smoky flavor is very rich and the maple sauce brightens it up. It’s common to get thirsty soon after a heavy meal, and we didn’t even think of it but Mark gave us water to-go since we’d be window shopping around Spring. Southern hospitality, good food and history come together to make this a great experience!
Had dinner at Wunsche Bros. Café & Saloon and ordered the Wunsche Burger with pepper jack and smoked bacon, plus a cold Corona. The burger was solid and straightforward—juicy patty, smoky bacon that didn’t turn sweet, pepper jack melted into the meat instead of overpowering it. Fresh toppings, bun held together, fries hot and properly salted. The building carries the weight here. All wood, no polish, no performance—just a place that’s been used for a long time and knows it. You can feel the history without it being staged or explained at you. Service didn’t rush, the room stayed comfortable, and nothing tried too hard. It’s hard not to think about the night before Prohibition, when people came in from miles around to drink the bottles dry and dance until morning. About Charlie and Dell p
First time here and I loved it. The food was excellent. I had the chicken fried chicken and it did not disappoint. Real juicy and tender, real mashed potatoes, delicious! Plus the place was very comforting, laid back and love that it was and old hotel. Just became one of my favorite spots. Amazing service also.
Get the beer bread!!! Great bartender Jackie. Excellent service. Tomato basil soup was great. My ribeye was good. A little too fatty for my taste. The salmon was good. The bread though!!! I even bought a mix to take home. The little shopping district is a history lovers dream.
Fantastic vibe, with service and flavors to match. Great meals and bar. I had the double chop and it was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, and the side of mashed potatoes was the icing on the pork cake. I indulged afterwards in the chocolate whiskey cake, and it hit the spot, not too sweet, chocolaty with a caramel drizzle and pecans. I highly recommend this restaurant.
