Wild Thyme Gourmet

Been going here for years. It's been on a steady decline. This past week was the last time..... I think there getting too used to ripping off the tourists! They had an Oriental Stir Fry Salad on the menu... When we asked for the dressing on the side, the waitress said yep. But then came back and said they could not do it, but offered to have it lightly dressed. But , came back a 3rd time and said they couldn't. Anyway, what we got were 2 drowned in dressing nasty salads. Disgusting.... When I asked the hostess why no dressing on the side, she said because it was a stir fry. Another tip - you dont good stir fry's in salad dressing! At least none we've ever ever ever had. Good luck! PS - this is what it looked like after draining some dressing off - BTW.

Our favorite restaurant in Highlands. We ate here our first night in town and liked it so much we came back for lunch the next day! If there was one place I would have had dinner at more than once on this trip, this would be it. I had the seared tuna for an appetizer and my wife had the fried green tomatoes. Both were outstanding. Entrees were quail and a double pork chop which were equally delicious. We split a desert of lemon layer cake with coffee. Nothing we had was less than perfect. The service was outstanding. This was one of the best trained staffs I have ever come across! The atmosphere is very nice. Classy yet not too formal. Very extensive wine collection! Walked around downtown Highlands on our first quick stopover and decided to dine at Wild Thyme Gourmet as menu appeals to us. We were promptly seated in a cozy booth without a reservation (maybe it’s Mon!). Food was awesome! Beet salad, waterfall beef and chicken breast were delicious and beautifully presented. Chicken stuffed with olives is such a good idea and beef was so tender. Many great options for desserts and not forgetting a huge wine list. We picked Chocolate pâté and lemon mousse cake. Server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended place to check out!

The service was excellent. It was Valentine’s Day and I think they had more tables than normal maybe? We seemed a little crowded. It’s a small restaurant. We had a hard time having conversation at our table because we were so close and it was also loud. Other tables were probably better. You can hear the kitchen as well. This is just the atmosphere of the restaurant I guess. We were on the long banquet seat side. The puffed crab pastry was 5/5. The salad was 3.5/5. Our entrees were 4/5. Bread pudding 4/5. Overall a nice evening.

We ate there twice during a visit to Highlands in May-2025. My entrees were amazing (Salmon-wasabi and pan fried trout). My salads were average (roasted beet and warm goat cheese). Service was outstanding. My wife liked her wedge salad and spring rolls. We ate outside (we were traveling with our dog), so I can’t speak to the inside atmosphere. It would have been nice if they had outdoor heaters.
