If you’re looking for a charming and authentic historic inn near the wineries in Hunt Country, stay here and you’ll be in great hands with Rebecca. This property has been in her family for generations. Every piece in this Inn has a story waiting to be shared. And art historians will really appreciate the portraits of the Innkeeper’s ancestors and the paintings in the music room. The original wood floors talk to you with every step. Clawfoot bathtubs nestled into most bathrooms. Fine china patiently waiting for the next tea party. This space makes for a the perfect escape to travel back into time when things were perhaps a bit more simple than they are these days. Highly recommend!

Staying at the Welbourne was a walk back in history, comfort, and warmth. My husband and I spent two nights for a family wedding and with family we had not seen in many years. By nature of the Inn, there are cozy and elegant rooms (like the "library" or the sitting room - to visit with cousins, and friends to share memories and stories. ||The breakfasts were exceptional not just because they were "yummy" but served with style and kindness by a wonderful staff around the family dining table. I personally enjoyed talking "recipes" with them. I had grown up in the tidewater/Richmond area so found their biscuits, eggs, fried apples, etc something I remembered. I stumbled across the Welbourne, a B&B near Middleburg, while planning a long weekend away. The innkeeper (Rebecca) is outstanding, welcoming, and remarkably knowledgable re: the region and history (ask her about the local fox hunts) - little surprise as she's the 4th generation of the family operating this lovely property. The building was initially built in 1775 and added to over the next century, and the rooms (especially the 2nd floor) are well proportioned and inviting (photos don't do them justice). We stayed in the 3rd floor suite which was more than cozy in January. Would be a stellar weekend getaway for anyone interested in Virginia wine country - and snag the room where F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed!

Such a lovely, historic B&B. Rebecca is such a gracious and knowledgeable host. We were able to enjoy a wood-burning fireplace in the study. Room was wonderful and spacious with a comfortable bed. A delicious breakfast around a plated, large dining table with all the guests was a fun treat to end our stay. We will definitely return.

My stay at Welbourne was nothing short of magical! Rebecca, the owner, is both welcoming and helpful with any special request. In her family for seven generations, it is steeped in history and filled with portraits, art, antiques and memorabilia. Their elegant library was a favorite room to read about the Middleburg area from some of their many volumes. Truly a lovely stay in gorgeous Virginia hunt country.
