Voodoo Chicken & Daiquiris

Read a 4.5 average review score and thought we would check it out. The chicken was dry and overcooked. Fries were OK, Mac and cheese was creamy but pretty institutional. One thing that was frustrating was the cashier. I asked what came with the chicken and she answered “just the chicken”. There were two of us and the price said $15.99 for 2 pc. dark or white or mixed. We were going to order one of each. Then I saw the four piece mixed for $19.99. Not sure about that pricing strategy, but it’s their strategy, so… Anyway we openly debated whether to get the fries or the Mac and cheese. Cashier clearly heard us but said nothing. Google showed the restaurant open until midnight but when we arrived at 9:15pm we were told they were closing soon and were only serving the #3 and #4 meals which were chicken tenders. Waited about 20 minutes to get the food but saw plenty of chicken available in the kitchen. The tenders and fries were overcooked and did not taste very good. There was a sign that stated the restaurant did not accept cash and the receipt showed they charged an extra 3% for credit on to of the 11% for taxes. Low value for quantity / quality received.

My first stop while I'm here visiting New Orleans, I was very excited to eat here. The decor is definitely what drew me here and I was starving just checking in my hotel. The space was amazing, again it is what made me come inside in the first place, it was well lit and had a New Orleans theme throughout the restaurant. Plenty of space and seating available for patrons. They had really cool pictures on the wall, and would be a great place for people to come and get content or take pictures. Service was good, the cashier walked me through the menu and gave me some suggestions. The restaurant was empty so she took her time breaking different meals down and I appreciated the time she took with me. Came here for a quick bite to eat and drink before hitting up bourbon street. Went with a tenders meal with voodoo sauce and a cold beer. The first two beers I tried to get were both out of tap, but as they say third times the charm! Chicken and the fries were both hot and fresh and made for a very tasty meal. Voodoo sauce was good, and maybe this is my NY roots talking, but I think I'll always be a buffalo kind of man. The guy behind the grill was so nice and even gave our big group a complimentary basket of chicken and fries without us even saying anything! That alone was worth enough for a rave review. It might not be the most glamorous meal you'll find in the New Orleans, but it's easy and delicious.

Food is okay here. Better than Popeyes? Not really, but it’s not worse either. I tried the chicken tenders which lacked crispness but otherwise they were tasty and slightly spicy too. Waffle fries were a solid A.
