The best prime rib sandwich I’ve ever eaten! The main thing is the preparation. Look at the pic, it’s a prime rib sandwich, fresh, as prime rib is on the menu (if you want a large serving go for it!). However the sandwich preparation is a great size and it is a bit like a hot beef sandwich with Au Jus instead the gravy, you get at a “dinner” (prime rib, not pot roast from whenever!) I ate this like it was a hot beef sandwich with knife and fork. This place is nicely priced as well for CB. Wooden Nickel has a great beer and wonderful cocktail selections. Great atmosphere, this place was here before Crested Butte was on the map. I’m back here again soon! (Sandwich pic is from the restaurant, mine was served up looking exactly like this, I just started eating before I took a pic!)

If you are looking for a meal that captures the true soul of Crested Butte, look no further than the Wooden Nickel. As the oldest saloon in town, it manages to strike that rare balance between a historic and unpretentious local hangout and a high end steakhouse. We recently grabbed two seats at the bar, which is easily the best way to experience the place. You get to soak in the Old West atmosphere, complete with dark wood, vintage memorabilia, and a warm, lively energy that makes you feel like a local before your first drink even arrives. We ordered the French Dip and the Tenderloin, and neither disappointed. The French Dip is legendary for a reason. The prime rib is shaved thin, incredibly tender, and served on a fresh roll with a side of au jus that has a rich, savory depth you just do

Dined in for dinner on a Monday evening. The waitstaff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. They offer a wide variety of cocktails, beer and wines as well as some NA options. We had the cheeseburger and wooden nickel salad. Both were excellent! Sharing a photo of the salad because I didn’t see it in other reviews and it was outstanding!

We ate almost everywhere in town and bang for the buck this is your spot for lunch and dinner. Amazing food at a reasonable price point, Amazing staff, great chill vibes. Honestly enjoyed thier elk and prime rib was 2x better at a better price point than next door. Your choice but for our experience...it's just better here. Annndddd.....the bison chilli....chef's kiss! Got the bison chilli 2 days ago and decided to stop on our way out of town for a going away bowl for the road. Definitely will be our go to next season when we return.

This is my medium well burger. Great I came in at the end of the night and apparently they were too concerned on getting my food out before it was cooked. Great tasting food but this is unacceptable
