The Saugatuck Retro Resort

My wife and I had a few unexpected extra days in the area at the end of our lake trip. We had stayed in the Douglas Beach area and didn't want to leave the Saugatuck area. We saw this charming motel online and knew immediately that it would be a perfect fit, and it was! Rob was absolutely the host with the most! We arrived early in the day from our earlier rental and decided to park the car and take our bikes to Holland. The bike trail was easy to find from Rob's directions and we had lunch by the water before returning to the motel to check in. As soon as we pulled in with our bikes, Rob came up and greeted us by name, it was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. This initial greeting just set the tone for our visit and we felt immediately at home in the Retro Motel. It was wonderful,

Our stay at the Saugatuck Retro Resort was fabulous. The rooms are clean and simple, but so thoughtful as to the amenities. Just to name some highlights...there's a fridge with freezer, a microwave, beach chairs, hooks in the bathroom (surprising how many places don't have!), as well as a beautiful pool and grounds. Retro Rob was welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and ensured our stay was great. Also, the location was no more than 6-8 minutes from everything and if you didn't want to drive there is a $1 bus service, the Interurban, that can take you anywhere in the Saugatuck/Douglas area and beyond.

We have been going to the Retro Resort for several years now and it's always enjoyable. My other half and I just stayed in Saugatuck for the weekend to celebrate his birthday. The Retro Resort was the perfect place to stay, nestled away from the busyness of downtown, but close enough to get to by car or the interurban bus for $1. Rob’s hospitality was above and beyond! He was timely with communication before our arrival, greeted us with loads of information on things to do, provided a map and even helped us make a reservation for a special birthday dinner. The grounds are beautiful with hibiscus flowers surrounding the in ground pool and the coffee hour at 9am was a treat. The beds are very comfortable too! We will definitely be back.

I went on a solo trip to Saugatuck and found this gem! I’ve been to Saugatuck before and stayed at Air B & B’s, but since I was by myself I wanted a more community type feel. The Retro Motel fit my needs to a tee! First, I want the say Rob is the kindest and most gracious host. He just doesn’t hand you a key and that’s the end of it. He helped me to my room, made sure the WiFi was working as I needed to be on a meeting, and he was always accessible . You can tell Rob loves owning the place and takes great care of his guests and of the grounds. The pool was fabulous as it was quite hot when I was there. Plus it gave me a chance to meet new people. The vibe is great as retro music plays from the speakers. There is also a fire pit and an amazing hammock! The serenity of the hammock was my fav
