The Painted Cat of Galena

This bed and breakfast is a real gem. I strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Galena. Cory and Mariel have done a wonderful job creating an inviting, cozy, and fun home. Their cats are so sweet and it's a great perk having them around to play and cuddle with. The included brunch on Sunday was delightful (honestly better than the lunch we had in town). They've stacked their home with books (actually good and interesting reads!), games, puzzles, snacks, and refreshments. The room itself was clean and private. We stayed in the Calico Room which had an amazing tub with jets. A total dream.

This was such a lovely place to stay! The hosts are incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and the house itself is beautifully decorated. You can tell that Cory and Mariel care deeply about their guests' experiences. And the kitties are so incredibly sweet! I loved seeing them around the common spaces and giving them all the pets they wanted.

The most marvelous experience - whether you're traveling alone, with a partner, or with a group, the Painted Cat is the perfect place to stay while visiting and exploring Galena. A gorgeous Queen Anne with all the cats you could want to pet and play with, the only thing better than the ambiance and decor is the hospitality of the hosts. Delicious breakfast in the morning, plenty of games and books in the sitting room, and great conversation. Moreover, it is a mere 10 minute walk across the pedestrian bridge from downtown Galena, so no need to leave the free street parking in front of the B&B to battle the traffic on Main Street. I know I can't wait to come back!!

Wow! This weekend totally exceeded our expectations. My daughter and I stayed in the Persian room and the bed was comfy, the decor adorable, and the bathroom was roomy and stocked with everything we needed. The hosts are super friendly and knowledgeable and the food was amazing! We felt spoiled! And last but not least- the 6 resident cats made this stay absolutely magical! We can't thank you enough for this incredible stay and you can feel the love and hard work that goes into every detail.

Cory and Mariel have created a beautiful space in Galena. Such a quick drive from Chicago, and their BnB is situated super close to Main St. with lots to do! Their house is curated with gorgeous Victorian decor, super comfortable bedrooms (with ensuite bathrooms), and multiple cats to keep you company. The 5 cats were a great addition to our weekend, and we will miss Mariel's daily home-cooked breakfast! Highly recommend for those looking for a relaxing weekend in a beautiful space that is beyond worth the value.
