Customer Reviews
The Kannery is easily one of the finest dining experiences in Homer! From the outstanding food and thoughtfully crafted menu to their winter availability and exceptional staff, everything is done right be sure to try the shrimp and grits. It’s amazing.
Modern & clean atmosphere. Quick service. Many options. High end. Great for celebrations. They do not do anything special for birthdays. Cocktails were both great. The pork belly special was dry & sparse on meat. Chef did ask for opinion so he could improve, which was nice. Not many options for dessert, but they looked good. Expensive, even for Alaska, but most of our dishes were excellent. Sat at a table w sofa which was comfortable.
I was told by a good friend to not leave Homer without trying some fish and chips so I Googled and came across The Kannery. I was warned by the servers that their fish and chips dish is served with actual potato chips and not French fries like most other people expect. So I decided against ordering that and instead went with the steamer basket hoping that $50 would get me a worthwhile dish. The halibut steamer basket resembled a dog food dish and the halibut itself was a small serving and bland. I thought the dish so unimpressive it hadn't crossed my mind to even take a picture. The salad it was served with was decent. The cocktails I had were alright. A bit strange and experimental but I can support that. $17 for a cocktail is a little high. The dessert was by far my favorite part of the
Popular among locals and tourists, this place is hopping during the bust season. We had the plank salmon and beet salad. The salmon seemed a bit small for the plate and price. It was also a bit overcooked. The salads are plentiful with lots of lettuce. Overall it was average. Service was good.
This is a must place to visit if you are in Homer!! The food was outstanding - we started with the King Crab Fondue to share, followed by Sockeye Salmon Plank, a Beet Salad with Alaskan Salmon, and locally caught Shrimp and Grits, and they were all just fabulous. The two salmon were totally different and I have to say were possibly the best salmon I have ever tasted!! Living in the mid south, I often have Shrimp & Grits - but these ones knocked the socks off anything have had before. And then we finished off with the Japanese black sesame cheesecake with yuzu and a Smores dessert which we fought over to finish! Katie our host and server was amazing too, which just made our whole meal even better. Thoroughly recommend!!!!
