The Hydrangea Inn

The Hydrangea Inn is my favorite place to stay in Gloucester. The location is unbeatable --- a view of the Gloucester harbor, and steps away from the Fisherman's Memorial and a short walk to downtown. The rooms at the Inn are large and comfortable, with good showers. The highlight of staying at the Hydrangea Inn is the innkeeper Joan. She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and she makes you feel like you're family from the second you walk through the door. Not only is Joan a great storyteller, but she's also an amazing cook, preparing a multi-course breakfast every morning of the stay. One thing is for sure, a stay at the Hydrangea Inn will leave you planning your next visit.

My mom and I stayed here to be near Boston and we didn’t realize what a gem we had picked! Joanie was such a delight to meet. She made us feel like family the moment we arrived. I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was. I usually don’t like to stay at the same place more than once but The Hydrangea Inn would be the exception. I would definitely come back in a heartbeat.

Can't say enough good about the Hydrangea. For starters, we couldn't have asked for a more helpful, friendly, or accommodating hostess. Joan was always ready with suggestions for places to explore, restaurants to try, or simply how to get around. The inn itself was charming, and our room was very homey and comfortable. We'll definitely plan on staying at the Hydrangea if ever we find ourselves again visiting Gloucester.

We stayed here several nights in early May. Our room was so comfortable and the breakfasts lavish. The proprietor, Joanie, not only is a solicitous host but also an interesting person. I enjoyed conversing with Joanie in her gracious family home. And meeting her precious Petunia was the highlight. I could be fast friends with Joanie if we lived in the same city.

What a magical experience! Miss Joanie is such a lovely hostess. Her home is absolutely gorgeous, spacious, and so clean! We needed all the rooms and we were incredibly blessed at her willingness to accommodate, especially last minute. She took my allergies very serious and provided a breakfast that I could enjoy with my family. Her home is literally a minute walk to the beach and a two minute walk to the Fishermen’s Wife Memorial and the Fisherman Memorial. I can’t express in adequate words just how truly amazing the experience was. We will definitely be back. Miss Joanie is a genuine soul who truly goes above and beyond for her guests. Thank you for taking such great care of our family. We appreciate you! We can’t wait to see you again! Give Miss Petunias snuggles for us!
