The Drift Inn Diner

Such a great addition to the Algiers dining scene. We went on Super Bowl Sunday after the Mardi Gras parades and it was pretty quiet which was perfect for us. The cocktails we ordered were great and innovative - we tried the Mack Cocktail that was a play on a French 76 garnished with a fresh orchid, and a Gin and Celery which was a delicious take on a gin and tonic. The food was also great - the fries with the sauces are a must have, but the service was exceptional. Chemise was charming, took great care of us, and knew the menu. there was a small TV that the staff was hovered around at strategic moments in the game. Great. Worth a trip over there from the east bank. Go over to barracuda and get yourself a little margarita beforehand. The diner looked like you’d expect it to. We got the VIP spot by the window in the booth. Right now it’s a soft opening apparently so the menu was limited, but we wanted burgers anyway. We got the hash brown bowl to split amongst four people to start. Table was split between drinking Schlitz and Jucifer. Just one round. Food came fast, and the burger was tasty and filling. Show string fries were solid. When the bill came for the three burgers (one burger was split and had extras like bacon on it and there was and an extra order of fries ), hash bowl, and beer it was $75. Pretty sweet. We did not get the ice cream, but will next time.

Authentic 50’s diner and soda fountain. Great service by Trisha. Shoestring fries were great. Home made soft serve ice cream was yummy. If you are walking around Algiers Point, stop in and listen to the music and enjoy the food.

They just opened (we visited late December 2025), but it's definitely a place to visit while on Algiers. We took the ferry across to see a different part of New Orleans and really enjoyed the reprieve and charm of the gingerbread homes. While walking around, we walked by the diner and commented how cute it looked through the window. We were hot and wanted a snack, so why not? We were so happy to take a seat in the diner booth and looking around at the retro charm was a definite added bonus. We didn't try anything else on the menu but the shoestring fries (CRISPY! NOT GREASY!!) and homemade soda was really refreshing and delicious. Our waitress was sweet and provided some ideas for our wander. The Drift Inn Diner is a wonderful restaurant in Algiers Point where you can enjoy an authentic American diner experience. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, with a classic diner style that makes you feel right at home. The food is delicious, well-prepared, and generously portioned, with great options ranging from breakfast to burgers and other traditional American dishes. The service is excellent—the staff is friendly, attentive, and always welcoming. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience you get.
