Customer Reviews
Second time here, returned as we had a wonderful meal and experience before. Once again we were greeted and seated by the owner who is very welcoming and friendly. Last visit he gave us the history of the building and how he came to own and operate the place which was informative. They offer you biscuits or corn bread which arrive with butter and apple jam which is very tasty. I loved the mustard based potato salad and ham slice dinner. It also came with baked apple slices which were tasty. Friendly service and a warm atmosphere for an enjoyable meal. We will return again next time we pass through Blacksburg.
House turned into restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff. Other patrons were friendly too. Fried chicken was their specialty as well as the meatloaf. Blueberry pie tasted homemade!
What a great find! Friendly staff, cute venue, and the best fried chicken I've ever had. Awesome apple butter with the biscuit too. Would highly recommend.
We had a party of 14 at Blacksburg Tavern, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. They were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making a large group feel comfortable and well taken care of. The family-style food was delicious—yummy, filling, and perfect for sharing. Everything came out hot and plentiful, and no one left hungry. The service truly stood out, and it made our gathering feel special. I would definitely recommend Blacksburg Tavern, especially for larger groups or family-style dining.
We were a large group and had family style meal. I loved the fried chicken but highly recommend the meatloaf (it was exceptional, l would love the recipe). We also had succotash, mash potatoes & gravy, biscuits and green beans. The green beans were a bit over cooked for my taste but l was assured this was the way they are served in the south. I loved the succotash! Take the time to look at the murals of rural life in Blacksburg i the 18th century. Painted by the proprietor's 91 year old great aunt. They are lovely and very detailed. Hight recommend a meal here.
