Customer Reviews
We were drawn to the barn kitchen and bar because it had clearly marked gluten-free entrees and as well appeared to be high quality restaurant. The wait staff were very familiar with gluten-free needs and they also had an allergist food sensitivity specialist on staff that talked to us. The food came out as quickly as we needed. I had the parsnip soup as an appetizer and my wife had the arugula salad. Both were very tasty and fresh. For entrees I had the coconut vegetable curry stew. My wife had the Alfredo shrimp with gluten-free pasta. She claims it was some of the best pasta that was gluten free. Both had exquisitely good sauces and we're very tasty. They had a very good gluten-free brownie with ice cream for dessert. We should mention that the host was also accommodating and concerned
After reviewing the menu we decided Brunch was the way to go. We split the Crab Cake as an appetizer which was incredibly delicious. It came with a grilled asparagus and a spicy aïoli. Fantastic! Then we each had a Burger, and I had Truffle fries. The service was great. Our cushioned seats were great, by the windows.
Another bad experience at the barn-- 3rd time I ordered something and the plate was filled to the brim with butter/oil. I ordered the salmon last night and I was automatically disappointed with the very small portion size. I was given a small piece of salmon with two broccoli florets on a bed of risotto. The risotto was so, so oily to say the least and when I mentioned it to the waitress I wasn't given an option to take it back or offered a discount for the unpleasant meal. Similar experience when I ordered their simple scrambled eggs with toast and potatoes (loaded with butter) and not offered anything for the inconvenience. I asked for a separate plate so I could quite literally pour the oil from my bowl and avoid eating it. Paying $29 plus tax and tip for such a mid meal is so disappoin
A very mixed experience, but still 5 stars. The fish and chips was not good: too salty, too oily, the chips didn’t really feel like chips, and the coleslaw didn’t taste like coleslaw. That said, the hummus was the best we’ve ever had outside Israel, and the risotto was exceptional — honestly the best we’ve had, even compared to Italy. Service and beverages were excellent, which more than made up for the disappointment. Strongly recommended (just skip fish and chips).
We sat at the communal, seating table and it was fantastic. Jessy was our server/bartender and an amazing person. Thank you Jessy.
