From the first bite to the last, my meal was a standout. The pork barbecue was tender and juicy with just a gentle kiss of smoke that let the meat shine. The shrimp were clearly fresh, with that perfect snap that made them truly finger-licking good. I loved the hush puppies too—light and fluffy inside with a golden, satisfying crunch on the outside. The red coleslaw and some of the local sauces leaned a bit vinegary for my taste, but the house sauce more than made up for it—absolutely fantastic, and even the spicy version had just the right balance of heat and flavor. Sunny Daze Smokehouse in Carolina Beach delivered a mixed experience: very good overall thanks to excellent service and a clean space, but the food and atmosphere had a couple of drawbacks. Service here was excellent—friendly, attentive, and on top of things from start to finish. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, which made the visit comfortable and inviting. Tried the brisket and pulled pork; both were good but not quite at a “wow” level for barbecue, so the food landed more in the “solid” than “standout” category. Portions and quality were fine, just not memorable enough to make this an automatic must-return spot for the food alone. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! The service and hospitality are outstanding. I am very particular about chicken wings and @sunnydazesmokehouse were the best I have had! We loved both red (vinegar based) and white (mayo based) slaw My husband is particular about pulled pork and said it was great as well. Mindy was our server today and Sunny Daze BBQ in Carolina Beach… this experience was absolutely wonderful.. Mindy lit up our day what her terrific attitude, dynamite smile and relentless pursuit to give us the best customer service humanly possible… The atmosphere was awesome, vibrant, colorful and full of life! The food was exceptional and totally hit the spot better than I could’ve hoped for. Saying that our expectations were met would be an understatement… This was a great first time experience and I highly recommend this place to anyone craving quality BBQ in a comforting environment… please ask for Mindy and prepare to be both entertained and delighted by her sparking personality! Incredibly good and tasty Brunswick Stew. The brisket sandwich was good too and a little different than the ones we get at smokehouse joints... Great service, although, I think the waitress watered down my pink lemonade refill :) as it came back totally white, but it must have been a mistake. The seats outside have a great view.
