I had a birthday brunch for my daughter on Saturday. We drove from Benson for the shrimp and grits, only to find that it was only on Sundays. So we ordered the jambalaya and the red beans and rice. Our disappointment quickly faded because both of these dishes were fantastic! Our waiter ( I wish I could remember his name) was one of the best. He even brought my daughter a piece of rum cake with a candle for her birthday! We will definitely be visiting again.
An awesome restaurant in a unique location! We ordered the Shrimp & Grits and the Gumbo over rice and were completely satisfied. Great taste and great portions. The strawberry lemonade was great too! Planning to stop by again during my next visit to Durham.
It was our first time here and we definitely will be back! The food was incredible. We had the Smoked Brisket Plate, the Shrimp Creole (Special of the night), and the Rum Cake (not pictured). The service was also excellent.
The server was great the restaurant looks really hipsterish, not in a bad way or anything like that. It’s fitting , really nice inside. The cauliflower with hot honey was amazing, highly recommended. Little disappointed in the brisket though. Seemed like it was cooked in the oven over being smoked. Not that it was bad but was a little tough, only reason as to why the three star rating. Also if the server does read this review, we did find the Brunswick stew. Thank you very much! Would recommend this place and would love to come back when we’re in the area.
Arrived for a solo dinner. There was a bit of a wait because the place was packed but I’m glad I waited. I decided on the brisket. It came out quickly, very smoky moist and perfectly seasoned. The potatoes were crispy soft on the inside and delicious. The slaw was crunchy and fresh, and I finished off with a nice desert (crème brûlée empanada) overall a great experience. Interior was very cute. I’ll come back!
