St James Parish Library

Very tiny library in the middle of nowhere. Definitely on the underfunded side, just like most else in the parish. I was there purely by chance, as my wife and son were on the plantation tour. I, on the other hand, had tons of work to do on my laptop, so they accommodated me with a “conference room” that I would have sworn looks more like a storage closet (albeit, with a nice large table). WiFi works, though it takes forever to pull the captive screen and to agree to conditions. Time seems to have stopped in the 80’s, though they do seem to have about a dozen or so new PCs and Macs, and dedicate space for folks to come and browse in comfort. The St. James public library has accommodated my friend and I so much as we studied for important tests. This is a middle ground for both of us to meet in a comfortable safe place. During the times we have studied here everyone has been extremely welcoming and supportive of us both. Even during times of last minute needs they have went out of there way to make sure we had a place to focus and concentrate. All the staff members made sure to check on us as I’m sure they could tell we were stressed. They graciously offered us a conference room to ourselves to not be distracted by others. Would highly recommend to others as a quiet and comfortable place to get work done!!

I always prefer to use this library bc it's peaceful and cozy. The staff is very nice, soft spoken and always available to help. Computers and internet is always in good working condition, restrooms are always fresh and clean. I've been going to this location for 8yrs and no complaints this far. Thank you St. James parish! You are appreciated.

The rudest groups of ladies I have ever met! You ask a simple question because that’s what they are here for, and they catch a attitude. Very disrespectful! Never going back

1st thing they close early at 5 o'clock and it says on the Web 530 Bad service and they will shut down the computers while you're working on them 10 minutes early before they close without giving you heads up.
