Customer Reviews
Local recommendation and we were so glad to find this gem after a day of visiting plantations. Highly recommend eating here instead of going back into the poor quality tourist trap called French Quarter. Hubby ordered the Hamburger Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes and was pleasantly met with actual home cooked food with adequate portion sizes and great flavor. I had the California Turkey Club and it was generous and fresh including the bread and the son had the Papas Pig on a brioche bun and again was pleased with the freshness, flavor, and option size. We highly recommend stopping by this hidden gem and supporting the local businesses.
Food was very good, we started with fried pickles since they are my son's favorite. They were super crunchy with a great flavor. A jalapeno ranch dipping sauce came with them and it was spot on. I had the fried catfish with fries and mixed vegetables. The mixed vegetables were amazing. The fries were good but couldn't match the veggies. My son had the ribeye cooked medium rare and was very happy with it. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back again.
After being starved and overcharged for our entire trip in and around the French Quarter; this place was a breath of fresh air. Exactly what I needed. Great food in heaping portions. I’m considering the hour drive back here for the remainder of our trip. Ray our waiter did a fine job as well.
The menu had a Little bit of everything I was pleasantly surprised for such a small town having a nice restaurant. I went there for lunch. My plan is to try it out for a dinner. The only complaint was, it was so loud that I could not hear the person I was with talking. Hopefully the dinner crowd will not be as loud. It was very disturbing I suppose because local chemical plant managers go there for lunch. They don’t realize how loud they’re speaking amongst each other.
We were staying at Oak Alley , and asked where to eat dinner. They suggested this place. It has an unassuming decor but delicious food. It’s locally owned. Extensive selection of local cuisine. We had the St. James Crab Dip, Boudin-stuffed Burger, Voodoo Steak, Fresh Green Beans, Roast Potatoes, and Cinnamon Bread Pudding. You should definitely try it if you are in the area.
