St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church

My deda (grandfather) Petro Drapala started the first suburban Ukrainian church outside Chicago, St Andrew Ukrainian church started in Downers Grove, from a purchased home in town and has flourished in 50+ years, he would be proud.

We were invited to a Ukrainian wedding at this church. It was a small traditional ceremony for close friends. The church itself is very beautiful, it is huge, with a lot of lights, different frescos, and very tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. We were impressed by priest, such an intelligent and wise man. He found nice and helpful advices and words for a couple who arrived recently from Ukraine escaping the war. Made me want to come to church on Sundays, despite the face that we live in NYC.

I would have never thought I would find a home tasting food at church, of all places! They usually sell a variety of things on Saturdays between 9am and 2pm. I came in for some cabbage rolls. We were planning on having those for dinner and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Reminded me of how my grandma used to make them! Definitely will be back for more! A+!

Pierogi are good would love if they had meat ones. I ordered a dozen kraut and a dozen potato. The 2 containers were mixed potato and kraut. I bought potato to give to one friend kraut for another. They each got both!

I just wanted to write a comment so I really didn't know how to rate this church. I just wanted to say with the invasion of Russia in the past days there are many people trying to be involved and help in some way. There is not one single thing about prayer for your people right now. This website needs to be updated and active with prayer and love for a risen God who saves his people and never fails. People need you right now. Be available to them. And God bless the Ukraine ✝️
